Soup kitchen projects are probably the most popular service opportunities with Resurrection volunteers. I’m not sure why but my guess is that serving and sharing a meal is a comfortable way for people from different worlds to connect.

    I think you are right! And I think you hit a key word…”connect”…one of the biggest parts of serving is not only the opportunity to help someone by to CONNECT with them. It reminds me of the FaithWork story you shared from MLK Serve Day at City Union Mission, where the kids were off playing games and laughing with the folks at the mission after serving a meal! How wonderful :)
